Academic

Designed to help individuals develop English-language skills through projectbased learning. Multiple levels of instruction through progress- and project-based learning.
The GED programs are designed, at various achievement levels, to prepare the individual to take the high school equivalency examination. Fast Trak, Independent Trak and standard Trak options available.

Are you interested in attending college, but have been out of the “educational setting” for some time? Or, are you a high school student who wants to get a head start on mastering “college survival skills” (math, reading comprehension and study skills)? Whether you have been accepted into or are just thinking about attending college, this program will assist you in getting prepared for college and also will familiarize you with the college application process.

Prepares high school students to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Includes test-taking strategies for the math and verbal sections, vocabulary building, and review of algebra, geometry, and general math. Past results have shown increased test performance averaging 92 points.
 

Early Childhood Development

The Child Development Associate (CDA) is a National Credentialing Program that provides instruction to individuals interested in working within the early childhood field. It is a comprehensive training program that encompasses all aspects of the fundamentals of child growth and development. The program enables individuals working in child care to continue preparation for national accreditation. On-site employment visits and reviews are necessary to complete credentials for CDA certification. This program features Infant/Toddler, Preschool and Family Child Care Certifications.
This program is for individuals who need to renew their Child Development Associate certification. Features include: 4.5 continuing education units; Infant/Toddler, Preschool and Family child Care recertifications; Membership in National Early Childhood Association; Update of First Aid Certification; and Networking with other child care professionals.
This program offers child development training that is required by mandated by New York State for all staff working in licensed child care and family child care settings. The goal is to raise the quality of child care by providing students with increased knowledge and skills to help them better serve children and their families.
 

Health Care

This program prepares the student as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). Through classroom studies, lab, and clinical practice, the student will be prepared to assist the nurse in providing care for the resident/patient. The CNA is an active and valued member of a healthcare team. Graduates often use this program as a stepping stone to further nursing education. The course includes classroom lectures and laboratory and clinical experiences.

An accredited New York State program, which combines classroom study and clinical experience. The course content combined with successful program completion qualifies the student to take the National Council State Board of Nursing Examination (NCLEX) for Licensed Practical Nurses. It is a comprehensive training program that encompasses direct patient care in acute and long term care facilities.
An exciting program that prepares the graduate for employment in the operating room and in the surgical arena through classroom, laboratory and clinical experience in the local medical community. Students learn theory and gain hands-on experience. Graduates are qualified to take the National Certification exam for surgical technologists. There will be opportunities to train in local hospitals. Careers for the successful graduate include: surgical technologist in a hospital operating room or free-standing clinical operating room. Graduates can work as surgical technologists in a variety of specialty services such as heart, orthopedic, or transplant surgeries. Graduates can also use this course as a stepping stone to a career in health care such as a registered nurse.
 

Occupational Trades

The Barber/Styling Program will expose individuals to all aspects of barbering through 580 hours of lecture, practice demonstration, computer-based instruction, practical and theory worksheets with illustrations and client work.

Upon completion of a seven-month curriculum, students will receive a Barber/Styling Certificate and will be well-prepared to take the New York State Board Examination.

Prepares the student to take the NYS Board Examination to become a licensed cosmetologist Anyone interested in entering the challenging and rewarding career of Cosmetology will be exposed to up-to-the-date instructions, hands-on training and enhanced support for job readiness in a multi-cultural learning environment.
Culinary Arts is designed to give students a basic but diverse experience in today’s food service establishments and is a program for adults looking for a career change or a fresh start in the restaurant industry. The training will involve hands-on experience in the kitchen. The focus will be on basic fundamentals of the industry along with building knowledge of the fashionable trends in the culinary industry. The focus in the kitchen will be on product and equipment identification, kitchen math, sanitation, knife skills, baking principles, inventory and purchasing, and basic cooking skills in-line with American Culinary Federation guidelines. The program features state-of-the-art kitchen facilities, award-winning culinary instructors, small class size/personal attention and preparation of over 1,000 meals daily.

In the classroom students will learn computer skills, work force job skills and résumé writing. Upon graduation from the program students will be able to fill positions at entry level and mid-entry levels. They will learn the team player philosophy and be comfortable and confident in acquiring a job.

8 hour Pre-Assignment Security Guard Training Course

The Security Guard Act of 1992 mandates that all private security trainers must be certified. All security guards are required to complete an 8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course prior to applying to the Department of State for a Security Guard Registration Card.  REOC’s Security Guard Training is designed to provide the 8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course so that successfully completing students are trained and approved to apply for the Department of State for a Security Guard Registration Card.

16 Hour On-the- Job Training Course for Security Guards

All security guards must complete a 16 hour course within 90 days of employment as a security guard. The course provides the student with detailed information on the duties and responsibilities of a security guard. Students must have successfully completed the 8-hour Pre-Assignment Security Guard training before registering for this course. Students must attend 100 percent of the course hours and pass a written examination in order to pass the course and to earn the certificate.  Materials will be provided by the instructor.
 

Business / Office Technology

The Medical Secretary Program prepares the graduate for entry-level employment in a variety of healthcare environments. Students learn theory and gain hands-on experience through internships with the local healthcare community. Potential careers include: Receptionist, Office Clerk/Assistant, Data Entry, Secretary, Records Clerk in a medical/healthcare setting.
